Caawinaad material
Identifying disinformation and fake news
The Finnish Society on Media Education acted as an expert in the STEA-funded Caawinaad project (2020–2021), organised by the Finland-Somalia Association and the Somali Association of Western Finland, which focused on communications and advice related to the Covid crisis and was targeted at Somalis in Finland.
We produced material to support the debate that would help people to identify fake news and disinformation and to strengthen critical media literacy. The materials were published in both Finnish and Somali and can be used to initiate or support communications with young people and adults.
